Homeland security luncheon
— Sept. 8

The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a program on “Protecting the Homeland in Snohomish County: Vulnerabilities and Capabilities — What You Should Know,” on Sept. 8 at the Quality Inn Hotel & Conference Center, 101 128th St. SE, in Everett. Registration will start at 11:30 a.m., with the luncheon and program taking place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $30 per person/$25 for chamber members prepaid by Sept. 3. Business financing seminar
— Sept. 8

The Everett Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training will present “Find Me the Money,” a seminar covering business financing options, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 8 at the Everett Events Center, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Room 2, in Everett. Attendees can expect practical tips on where to go for financing and how to prepare before seeing a financial lender. There also will be financing success stories from women business owners. Commercial real estate open house
— Sept. 9

Business owners looking for office or retail space can get information on Edmonds locales at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 9. Arista Wine Cellars, at 502 Main St., will be the starting point, where attendees can pick up a listing of spaces with details on square footage, asking rents and contact information for owners/brokers. Tax workshop for businesses
— Sept. 15

The Everett office of the Department of Revenue is holding a free “New Business Outreach” workshop to help new and small businesses understand how to report their state taxes. The workshop, in which DOR staff members will explain the state’s excise taxes, will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Participants will receive a workbook that answers the most common questions asked by businesses as well as copies of DOR rules and regulations. Snohomish Chamber meeting
— Sept. 21

The Snohomish Chamber of Commerce will hold its next monthly membership meeting at 7:15 a.m. Sept. 21 at the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club, located at Second Street and Pine Avenue. Sunny Kobe Cook will be the guest speaker. Her presentation, “Lead with Your Heart,” will focus on building customer and employee loyalty with community involvement. Governor candidates forum
— Sept. 22

Snohomish County chambers of commerce, in partnership with the Snohomish County Economic Development Council, will hold a governor candidates forum from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Embassy Suites-Lynnwood, 20610 44th Ave. W. Cost for the event, which includes lunch, is $30 per person/$25 for chamber members prepaid by Sept. 17. The Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly membership luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Edmonds Yacht Club, behind Anthony’s at 456 Admiral Way. Guest speaker will be Edmonds Mayor Gary Haakenson, who will present “A Mayor’s Perspective.” Cost is $20 per person/$15 for chamber members who pre-register.
